1991 GTX

Postby dublu » May 23rd, 2014, 12:58 pm

Heres my new ride

All original GTX aside from an uprgaded exhaust. Few things to take care of but very nice overall.
Plans start with making it run and ride just right with a mild 60/40 drop and getting all mechanics tweaked apropriately to stock running condition

Update

Been tracking down a couple issues. Occasionally the car wont shut off when removing the key. this has been fun. not the ignition switch (either main or secondary) not the fuse panel. not the ecu. not the relays. something occasionally (usually afer warm - not when cold) keeps providing power to the coil. Also an occasional power drain. may be same source. At least its a keep running problem not a no run problem. :) Exhaust needs to be reworked.

Coilovers are on but not dialled down till i get a chance to prepare the wheel wells properly and rework the exhaust so it stops banging! took it to the Shuswap for a few days an I gotta say this car sounds and feels great on the windy roads in the mountains. Heres a few pics

I recently chased down a power drain on my gli. Can be a real pain to hunt em down.

Update. Some of this you may have seen on facebook but the forum deserves attention.

Since last I've changed the passenger side doors. Added Header, downpipe, and full exhaust thanx to Conor for the parts and Curtis helping me hang it. Still need to tighten it up and close off some leaks but its in the right place and I'm really happy with it. I've had the dash apart numerous times solving cluster and wiring issues. Still working on the running issue after pulling the key out but I have a plan for that. i may have solved the power drain but only time will tell on that one as it was an intermittent issue. I have a dual rad fan to put in that I've been delaying as the air conditioning will make that and interesting venture. The air conditioning in this car is awesome and have been enjoying it lately. The car is properly low now and the Concept-1 house brand coilovers are alright. Worth the price and will serfice till an upgrade is in order. Thnx to Jesse for the eyebrow spoiler. Just the right touch! Cars running really good and I'm getting more and more used to the CIS system. been thinking a lot about wheels and cant wait to make that move. Just before DasVolks Mike wet sanded, polished and worked his magic on this car. Really stepped up the presence of this GTX.
