97 Golf To Vr6, It is Time

Postby DCDUBBER » April 19th, 2015, 5:22 am

Ok so i know im not the only one to have done this, but before i Pick itup tomorrow...

Donor Motor!
1994 Corrado
- OBD2 VR6 and 5 speed manual transmission.
220km on when car was stripped for parts. Ran / shifted ok.
Removed the AC Compressor, and PS pump.

Going into a 97 Golf

Iv'e been searching and will require the following, let me know if i need anything else, appreciate it.,
Cluster
Harness..?
Ecu
PS Pump

I'm thinking it's sbest to get the whole car, but im not to worried about time. If i have to get piece by piece, it's no bother.

Thanks peeps!

R32 Bumpers, not sure yet as i think the yell-no is throwing it off. May consider selling em....
Found those euro lights at pnp...thought..what the hell.
Cars is is great shape, somewhat rust free except the notorious hatch...and a couple hole on the roof ( near window).

Looking for some good sites to purchase parts as well.

I'm not trying to be negative and everyone has their projects/reasons, wouldn't it be easier to just find a VR6 golf as they already came in this platform?
ahhhh I see, ya got all stoned, had a high-dea and decided to make a thread.

If you can get your hands on the whole donor car and have the space to keep it for a bit, do it. It'll save you lots of headaches in the long run because finding parts can be difficult and the price for new parts add up fast. I gotta say though, imho you gotta ditch that bumper and those tails, dude.

Lol. Damn bro. ..that hurts...lol. yah. Its on there for looks. 60.00...cheap. only reason i picked up the tails. Bumpers were found cheap as well So thought..wth right. r32 front and back. Money isnt really an issue. This is fun and time isn't important, however i don't have much exp as far as the history of the vr6. 300.00 from a friend...again. .y not. Lol.

I now have had a few ppl to tell me to ditch them...so FS they are lol. Looks to much like a honda i guess eh? Someone had mentioned i should drop the vr6 in the blue jetta...what would you all like to see? All i k lnow is i want a Grey metallic color and black outline.

Appreciate the info Guys. I've always wanted to do a swap and really the only reason i want to dismantle and re-install.

Sorry man, I didn't mean it in a rude way. Just my opinion... do whatever you like; that's what will make your car unique from the rest.

I definitely think you should drop the VR in the blue Jetta because I love that colour and I personally like Jettas more than Golfs. Again, this is just my two cents, do whatever you feel you would like the most!

If you have questions about the swap itself, let me know. I can try and help you to the best of my ability as I've done the VR swap into a MK2. For the harness, all I can say is try to find the original wiring that was paired with the motor you have. I tried using different wiring and it caused me nothing but headaches until I used the original harness, at which point the car finally ran properly. That being said, I went to Barlow PnP a week or two ago and there was a MK3 VR6 Jetta, OBD1 I think. You might be lucky and the harness may still be there.

The bumpers should stay go low, the stance will set it apart from other mk3 . One thing the color of the car will make it or break it. Everyone has their builds and their reasons for building a car so do it for yourself . You have to be seen in it lol . But oem tails look cleaner and more of a sleeper good luck on your build :D

Well, I've found a VR6 JETTA , but now decided to keep it. Got it for 600 lol. airbags are gone, drive it home and then cranked the heat and white smoke. Laugh my fkn ass off. Heater core gone. thought about looping the system but already started removing some of the carpet and dash and said screw it I'm just going to replace it with a new one most of the coolant came through the bottom of the air vent passenger side.https://m.facebook.com/photos/viewer/?photoset_token=pcb.10155482044205542&photo=10155482043890542&profileid=585355541&source=49&refid=17&ref=bookmark&_ft_=top_level_post_id.10155482044205542
